Sorry, I simply CAN'T see this as Art and this surely will put us as being Artists too on a lower level which we shouldn't let this be!

This so called "Artist" Guillermo picks up stray dogs and let them starve to death in his "expositions".
I think it's just way too low thinking do those kinda things, 'cause what the HACK does Art has something to do with this kinda suffering of a doggy which doesn't ask for it at all to end up like a museum piece or a piece of Artwork, isn't it?

The Dog Exhibit Controversy

It is reported in blogs, Internet forums and YouTube uploads that in 2007 Guillermo Vargas allegedly took a stray dog called Natividad from the streets of Managua, Nicaragua, and tied it to a short leash as an exhibit in an art gallery. It was initially reported that the dog was left to die with food just beyond its leash's length as patrons passed by in the gallery. Many images have appeared on the Internet showing a thin, emaciated dog tied to a line in a room full of standing people. There are no indications in the photos of where, when or who took them.[2][3] He refuses to say whether the dog survived the show but the director of the Códice Gallery is reported as saying that the animal was fed regularly and was only tied up for 3 hours on one day before it escaped.[4] A probe by the Humane Society revealed that the dog was in a state of starvation when it was captured and escaped after one day of captivity. [5]

^ Interesting. That's what it said in Wikipedia.

That's all very interesting, but as you do know, those things are said, are they proved yet?
I also think, even besides the facts you give, it's not right to do those things anyway, especially not if you think about the fact Guillermo did this because someone died because of 2 Rottweilers wo attacked this person, in my opinion you only should kill those 2 Rottwilers to forecome they'll make some more victims, but just leave innocent dogs alone if they're not involved into this ... They even didn't ask for that, did they?

Like Guillermo himself said that no one care about the fact if a dog dies on the streets because of hunger and thirst, well ... If a dog is on a street and it's still abled to walk and to snatch food out of rubbish bins, a dog has ways to survive, but a dog on a leash in a gallery hasn't at all!

Persons can see as much they want to say, but in my opinion, pics usually doesn't lie, and sometimes persons on higher positions (like gallery directors) don't want to have some trouble so the chance is easily there to turn their story to their sake, and another point is, that, things are even worser if they just put some food in front of this dog while he couldn't get it ... It's just like teasing and torchering in my point of view 'cause you know a dog can't take it if it's on a short rope, is that fair?

It's also said that Guillermo put a sign near this dog that if anyone would feed this dog they would be rather the same as that dog, so he even recommended not to feed this dog, that isn't fair either!

Allright-allright. But I'd rather believe wikipedia. People wouldn't let someone to just torture an animal. And I'm sure people wouldn't let a dog to starve. By looking at the photos it lookes like anyone could go and pet the dog, then why not feed it as well?

''If a dog is on a street and it's still abled to walk and to snatch food out of rubbish bins, a dog has ways to survive, but a dog on a leash in a gallery hasn't at all!''

^ If a dog is fed regularily it has better chances of survival than on the street.

Plus the creature doesn't look dead on these pictures. It is curled up. Dead dogs lie on their sides. He is probably sleeping.

I think they just let the dead doggy pictures wawy not to put more disgustingness in the world ... And sure if I was there this doggy would have some food! Nevertheless, some persons, even so called high society persons like to see poor pets like these suffering ... Strange world, but true alas ...

I signed it. Although I had trouble understanding the site. The description seemed to be in another language. Tell me more about Guillermo?
Yeapsystar Featured By Owner Apr 18, 2008
This Guillermo is an artist (actually he THINKS he is one) who picks up stray dogs from the streets to use them in his "Art exhibitions" to see how long it takes this dog will be dead by just letting them starvve to death!

So technically his art is putting dying dogs for all to see? Is there some media articles I could read about him? Picture of exhibitions?

A friend of mine just forwarded a VERY DISTURBING email which I will paste here:

In 2007, Guillermo Vargas Habacuc, a so called ´artist´, took a dog from the streets, tied it up to a short rope attached to a wall in an art gallery, and let it slowly die of hunger and thirst. For various days, the author of this horrible cruelty and the visitors of the gallery were impassible spectators of the poor animal´s torture, until it slowly died after an absurd and incomprehensible agony.

Do you think this is cruel?

The story does not end here: the prestigious Central American Biennial of Art has decided, incomprehensibly, that the bestiality committed by the aforementioned individual is art, and in such a way Guillermo Vargas Habacuc has been invited to repeat the cruelty at the 2008 Bienal Centroamericana which will be held in Honduras. LET´S STOP HIM!

Sign here: [link] you do not have to pay nor register, and its worth doing it so that this individual will never be appreciated nor be called an artist for performing such a heinous act, for such an insensitivity and for provoking another beings´ pain.

It´s very easy, it just takes ten seconds of your time (more time than it took me to translate the original message into English!) and its from a secure source; we forward all sorts of useless stuff, this time lets do it to avoid the unnecessary , cruel and sadistic suffering of an innocent animal.

P.S. If you ´google´ the "artists" name you´ll see other web pages related to this matter. Be warned that the photos you will see are very disturbing!

Please sign this petition!
